Inspiration | Phoebe Tonkin and Teresa Palmer for VOGUE Australia March 2015

Ahhh, this photoshoot from next month's VOGUE Australia is so gorgeous. Phoebe Tonkin and Teresa Palmer are both so completely gorgeous. If you don't recognize them, let me give you the down low on them (never saying that again, oop). Tonkin was in the short-lived CW series The Secret Circle (she was the best) and is currently in The Originals. She was also in an Australian show about mermaids called H2O where her hair was tragic but she was still super cute. Teresa Palmer is probably more recognizable since she's been in a few films like Warm Bodies, I Am Number Four (ooop at that trainwreck), and Wolf Creek. Anyways, about this photoshoot. I don't know if you've seen Picnic at Hanging Rock but it's this hauntingly beautiful mystery film from the '70s about the mysterious disappearance of a group of Australian schoolgirls and their teacher during a picnic at...you guessed it, Hanging Rock, on Valentine's Day in 1900. The film goes into how their disappearance affects their community. The film itself is based off of Joan Lindsay's novel of the same name. So why do I bring up Picnic at Hanging Rock? Because this photoshoot reminds me A LOT of the film although some of the pictures are a bit more like Tuck Everlasting (another wonderful novel and film), the general photography style presented is very reminiscent of cinematography from Picnic at Hanging Rock. I also think that this shoot might have been done in honor of the film's 40th anniversary but I can't be sure.

Even if I had never even heard of the film, I'd most likely still adore this shoot. It presents the intimacy and sweetness in friendships between women as well as the sort of unrestrained unabashed sexuality that women can possess. I don't even know where I was going with that or if it even makes sense but it kind of makes sense to me? Ooop, I'm starting to write like Emma from A Beautiful Mess. ANYWAYS. The photography and the styling in this shoot is just absolutely breathtaking. I'm kind of in love.
