Outfit | Spots

Today I had to shoot in my bedroom because our backyard and front yard are being worked on from 7 am - 10 am and I was already leaving with my dad so I thought it'd be a good idea to snap some shots before then. Anyways, I leave for VidCon early tomorrow and I am so excited. I'm sad that my friend Kai won't be going with me this year since we kinda crazy bonded last year but my friend Alysha will be there so I'm looking forward to getting to know her better. A road trip and a weekend dicking around a convention are great ways to get to know people hahaha. I'd also like to note that today I'm wearing pants because I like my body enough today to feel that I feel comfortable enough in pants. I was wrong, but eh. Someday I will get used to the idea of pants being comfortable. That day is not today, but I persevered since I don't think my dad would have been down for waiting an extra five minutes while I got redressed. I also stayed up majority of the night so that I could decide on what I would bring with me and wear while in Anaheim/LA for VidCon. It sounds like an easy task for someone like me, like throw four pairs of tights and four dresses into a bag and I'm good, right? I wish it were that simple. I ended up deciding on bringing one pinafore, a pair of shorts that I can double up on for Thursday and for Sunday, a mini black A-line skirt, and some blouses and shirts along with tights and some beanies. I also packed a light jacket since it is a lot cooler down in SoCal. Deciding on shoes was easy; no heels so I decided on two pairs of oxfords, a pair of flats, and my trusty, albeit beat up, grey converse. This reminds me that I'm in need of some new grey, white, and black converse. I've had my grey and my white converses since 7th grade and they've been with me through concerts, middle school, high school, majority of my community college career, and many an awkward meetup.

But I digress. Pants are still an uncomfortable article of clothing for me to wear. I only own around three-four pairs of pants and I only ever wear pants if the weather is entirely too cold and my dad forces me with his worrying. I find pants to be completely constricting and unflattering on me since I'm short (4'11"!) and curvy for my height. Pants just seem to accentuate every curve that I dislike. It explains the scowl on my face in today's set. I just can't seem to find the appeal of pants.

Review | Stila Long Wear Lip Colour in 'Flushed'

Product: Stila Long Wear Lip Colour  in 'Flushed'
Cost: $6 at Hautelook | Normally $20
Review: I ordered this along with my Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner from Hautelook.com a while ago and it just arrived in the post this past weekend. I actually wore this all day today. It's deep rose-coloured sheer, long lasting, lip gloss/balm in one tube. At least that's what it's advertised as. I can attest to the long-lasting and lip balm part. It's not sticky and shiny like lip gloss, thankfully. The deep rose colour is a tad off but I think that's because of my colouring. It's a bit more of a deep pink colour, not rose. It's still a very nice shade though. It also has this vanilla scent to it which is absolute perfection. My perfume is vanilla-scented so this goes well with it. I only had to touch up my lips like once today after lunch. Other than that, this really is a long-lasting lip colour. It has a twisting mechanism which works nicely and it applies smoothly although I suggest making sure to have soft, smooth lips so make sure to apply a lip balm the night before so that your lips are nice and soft when you apply this. Like with the eyeliner, this has adorable packaging. I'm seriously tempted to buy up some more Stila products.

Review | Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner in 'Empress'

Product: Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner in 'Empress'
Cost: $6 via Hautelook | $20 via Sephora
Review: I have only just gotten in this in the post this past weekend, but from the test swatch I did, this is a very strong eyeliner. I bought it in 'Empress' which is a pearly white. I plan on using it in my inner corners when I wear black/dark brown liner. It glides on smoothly and really sticks to your skin. Even now, as I'm typing this up, the eyeliner hasn't budged from my hand. So far, I have high hopes for this eyeliner. It's a nice white, not too shimmery, and really is waterproof. I might end up buying more shades. The packaging is really cute too. My only problem is that the twisty mechanism doesn't seem to be as good here. I'm not sure if that's just my problem or a widely recognized problem.
NOTE: If you'd like an invite to Hautelook, let me know :)

Outfit | 뜨거운 일 (hot days)

I took a Korean class like two-three years ago and I did fairly well in it. I used to be able to hold a conversation but since it's been a long while since I've been able to speak it and speak with friends from the class, my Korean's REALLY rusty. I bring this up because in the past couple of days, I've fallen back in love with KPop (Korean Pop music) and Kdramas (Korean dramas). The drama that has gotten me back? Shut Up and Let's Go aka Shut Up! Flower Boy Band. It's one of the better written and better acted dramas that I've seen on Netflix and it stars one of my favourite actors, Jung Euichul. Watching it has got me missing being able to speak Korean as well as I used to. Now, I can barely hold a conversation but I can still pronounce and read it well enough. Ah well. Maybe I'll take another Korean class somewhere down the line when I transfer to a university or maybe I'll just continue to sing the old Kpop songs I'm so fond of.

Life | Some Snaps of a Day in My Life

I used to do "day-in-my-life" blogposts on one of my old blogs before I stopped doing them because I'd forget to take my camera with me. It's been easier to document a day since I've gotten my iPhone but I quite like the quality of the pictures my Sony DSLR allows me to take. This was my day on Saturday July 13th, basically yesterday. I stopped after like 6 pm though since I had a babyshower and ended up leaving to see some friends. Maybe one day, I'll master the art of the "day-in-my-life" posts. That day is not today..or yesterday, technically. Anyways! I also have a video review uploaded of "Pacific Rim". If you'd like, you can check it out here :)

New glassses! I love em!

Took this one of my sister, Aleah.

I gave my sister my camera for like two seconds and she took these. Not to toot my own horn, but I don't look half bad for someone who is about to keel over from the heat.

Majority of the day was spent at this cutie's bday.

Some Doctor Who at the playground where the birthday was being held.

My cousin, Andrew, being a creeper and checking on our younger cousins.

Aleah, the perpetual dork.

This day was quite fun and relaxing. Except for the heat. That was terrible as all hell, but family made it well worth it.

Review | Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette

Product: Urban Decay Naked Basics Eyeshadow Palette
Number of Shades: 6 (Venus, Foxy, Walk of Shame, Naked 2, Faint, and Crave)
Cost: $27.50 (at Ulta stores, tax included)
Review: I needed a basics palette and since I didn't have the money to spend $50 on the full on Naked palettes, I decided to spend just a little over half that price on this palette. It comes with a really nice collection of shades and finishes that all blend and work together nicely. All the shades can be worn all over your lids, as a liner, and in your crease and the shadows themselves have an almost creamy sort of texture. They're easy to blend and they sit really nicely on the skin. Venus is the only shimmery shade and it works nicely as an inner corner highlighter for the eyes while the other shades are matte finishes. I primarily use the taupey shade Naked 2 all over my lids with Venus in my inner corners. I then use Faint on my crease and outer corners then finish with Crave as a liner on the outer 2/3 of my upper lash line. I've gotten into a routine of using these shades but I might be switching Naked 2 with Foxy or W.O.S. soon. I think for the price you're paying, this is a great beginner's palette for anyone who is just starting to use makeup. The colours are simple and can all be used to make really classy, easy looks for daily use to more intense, smokey looks for evenings out. All in all, I'm satisfied with this purchase. If I wore blush/bronzer, I would even consider buying the Naked Flushed palette which includes a bronzer, highlighter, and blush. But anyways, this is a good buy and I don't regret it. It's also smaller and more compact than my Benefit Big Beautiful Eyes palette which is slightly thicker in size. It also has more colour variation. Definitely a must have for every makeup bag. Especially if you don't want to pay twice the price for the Naked palettes.

Outfit | True Blood

It's been a while. I've been a tad more focused on reading, writing, and keeping up with my vlog. I've also been unable to photograph my outfits when I did leave the house. It's funny, the other day I was sad about not seeing and hanging out with my friends as often as I'd have liked to this past summer, but it's okay. The friends I have seen, hung out with, have made plans with me, and still keep in touch are the friends who matter and since realizing that, I totally feel better about everything. Today I caught up with the current season of "True Blood" and while watching the latest episode, my dad saw how I was dressed and noted that I dressed similarly to Sookie so now I have deemed this my Sookie Stackhouse outfit. It's all sweetness with the button up and legs with the shorts. Perfectly enticing and fun to wear. Oddly enough, outfits like this have become my sort of go-to summer outfit when I haven't done my laundry. I've also been wearing it every time I've gone to my mom's. This outfit is just so easy to style and there is a hint of maturity to it all while keeping it youthful with the colour and style of button-up. I've been on the hunt for more button-ups since so that I can add variety to this outfit.

Outfit | Costume Play

Recently, after getting roped into cosplaying (costume playing) Mei from My Neighbor, Totoro with a friend of mine, I started thinking about all the times I cosplayed (closet cosplays mostly) on days that weren't Halloween and any sort of costume party. I was surprised to find that I actually cosplayed a lot more often then I thought I did. I mean I even wore closet cosplays to school, even now while looking for parts for my Mei cosplay, I'm just buying clothes that I'll just be adding to my wardrobe and it's a plus that they work for Mei.

The whole process of cosplaying is actually really fun. I love watching all of these talented fans recreate their favourite character's outfits with such intricate detail and love. It's even more amazing when they're in character the whole time at a convention. That's dedication and it's just freaking awesome. I love seeing and meeting cosplayers, in fact my cousin on my dad's side is a cosplayer and she makes everything she wears by hand and right now she's working on an FMA cosplay and it's just so cool to see her progress photos and just how dedicated she is to be able to to do this. I think cosplayers get a bad rap which is unfortunate because most cosplayers I know and have met are some of the more fantastic people. If you know a cosplayer who makes their own clothes or spends their money on finding and buying exact items (you know, for shows like Doctor Who and Pushing Daisies) that a character wears, fucking congratulate them because that shit is difficult and they deserve all the awards.
